A first address in German academia
The University of Passau is a public research university that, in the first four decades of its existence, has developed into a first address in German academia. It scores highly in international academic rankings and was rated among the best 25% of universities worldwide in the Times Higher Education world university rankings for 2018. Some 13,000 students hailing from 100 countries are currently studying towards their degrees on our bright, modern campus located next to the river Inn, a mere stone's throw from the city centre and the historical Old Town. The quintessential student city with a high quality of life
Situated on three rivers and on the border to Austria, Passau is considered one of the loveliest cities in Germany. It has a young and dynamic feel despite its long history, as a quarter of its inhabitants are students. Passau combines local customs and traditions with Italian renaissance flair and an international buzz. On the business side it boasts a vibrant start-up scene and a number of internationally successful high-technology companies.
