Since its establishment in 1925, DAAD has provided funding to more than 1.9 million scholars both in Germany and overseas. Not only have funds been allocated to grants and scholarships, but also to other activities including the internationalization of German Higher Education Institutes, German studies and language promotion, the facilitation of developing countries’ higher education development, as well as policy advice on culture, education, and development issues.
To 2013, there have been more than 8,000 DAAD scholars, originally from Asia-Pacific, together with 4,000 German scholars, who have made the Asia-Pacific their destination.
In accordance with DAAD’s motto, “Change by Exchange”, and its mandate, DAAD in collaboration with the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is organizing a SEAMEO-DAAD Lecture Series to optimize the expertise of DAAD alumni in contributing to the development of education in the Southeast Asia region.
The SEAMEO-DAAD Lecture Series aims at strengthening the network of DAAD alumni located in the Southeast Asian countries, and promoting social responsibility by providing the alumni with an opportunity to voluntarily contribute knowledge and expertise through an on-line platform designed to upgrade/enhance the knowledge of students and teachers at Technical & Vocational Institutes and Higher Education Institutions.
